Daniel Ference
Licensed Professional Counselor
My goal as a therapist is to help you prioritize yourself in a way that leads to growth and a life worth celebrating. Growth can be as straightforward as learning to cope with a difficult situation, or as complex as charting a brand new life for yourself. Together, we will work to uncover your unfulfilled needs, the related obstacles, and any thoughts and perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling life. Ultimately, my hope and the focus of our work together is to help you make meaningful changes that are good for you, and those around you.
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I have experience working with depression, anxiety, addiction and recovery, stress and anger management, couples' concerns, grief and loss, PTSD, and adjustment issues related to everyday life challenges. I received my Masters degree from Concordia University Chicago, and I have been working for several years with adolescents and adults from all backgrounds in individual, couples, and group settings.
My therapeutic approach is best described as collaborative. Together, clients and I explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and work to build upon client strengths and empower individuals to overcome whatever challenge is present. Most importantly, our work begins with establishing a trusting relationship so as to provide a compassionate, safe, and supportive environment for personal exploration.
Many of the techniques I utilize would be considered Cognitive-Behavioral in nature. However, I understand that each client is unique, and thus I may use other treatment approaches more suited to a specific client’s needs.
