I am a husband, a father of four grown children, and grandfather of 9 grandchildren. I have over 20 years of individual and family therapy experience. I currently offer video counseling in addition to working at a counseling center in Sugar Land, Texas, I have served as a counselor in rural Texas for families with CPS cases and/or drug problems. I worked previously in the Pacific Northwest offering family therapy and drug counseling in my private practice, for inmates in the Multnomah County jail, and in other settings. I have a Master's of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (MS) from Portland State University, in Portland Oregon. I am active in the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) and in the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) and I hold credentials in Texas: Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #201531), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC #11126). I work with adults: (life-transitional crises such as separation, divorce, remarriage, alcohol or drug problems, depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, suicide prevention, stress management, mood and anxiety disorders; psychosomatic concerns; job loss, career dissatisfaction/change; problems in adjustment to physical illness and disability; body-image issues; unwanted same-sex attraction, and adjustment difficulties of eldering and retirement); with adolescents: (problems with adjustment, self-confidence, sexuality and identity; difficulties in relationships with peers or parents; alcohol or drug problems, depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, stress management, body-image issues, nutritional habits, college or career plans; and leaving home); with children: (behavior problems at home or in school; depression, anger and anxiety; sleep disorders; phobias; impulse control difficulties; adjustment reactions to death; and problems related to parents’ separation, divorce, or remarriage); with couples: (Marriage, pre-marriage, remarriage, blended families, conflict and violence, abuse, divorce, child custody), and families: (parent-child conflicts, problems with co-parenting, single-parenting and/or blending families from previous marriages, difficulties with CPS cases, empty nest, and difficulties with in-laws and other extended family members), all focusing on helping couples build inspired marriages as well as learning to parent with confidence. I strive to help clients overcome adversity, develop lasting and satisfying love relationships, find strength for their struggles, and understand their life’s meaning and purpose. I provide family and individual therapy, alcohol and drug assessments and counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy for adults of all ages and children down to age three; and EMDR treatment for adults, meeting clients where they are and helping them take the next step in their growth, keeping accurate records, service planning, referring, consulting, staffing, discharge planning, and billing reports to administration. I bring to each session over 20 years experience and dedication, insights gained in for-profit and not-for-profit counseling organizations. I offer a combination of solid clinical experience and unshakable calm, developed in settings ranging from upper-class suburban clinics to work in county jail systems.
